Sitting cross legged on the floor is a form of ‘asana’ called sukhasana which help in digestion. It is believed that sitting in this position, gives a signal to the brain to start the digestion process. While on the floor, you bend forward to eat your food and go back to your starting position to swallow. This back and forth movement while eating, activates your abdominal muscles and increases secretion of stomach acids. This makes it easier for your digestive system to digest the food.

Good posture helps in preventing injuries and also reduces strain on certain muscles and joints. Sitting on the floor automatically corrects our posture, makes your back straight, lengthens the spine and pushes back the shoulder. The benefits are that it beats common aches and pains caused due to improper posture.
